Selling Jewelry & Other Precious Metal Valuables
Jewelry boxes, flatware chests, and watch drawers often turn up alongside coin collections, especially in estates. We're glad to look at these too — with an honest explanation of what drives value and, just as important, what we're not the right buyer for.
What we typically buy
Precious metal content is the starting point
- Gold jewelry — rings, chains, bracelets, and pins marked 10K, 14K, 18K, or similar
- Silver jewelry marked .925 or sterling
- Sterling silver flatware, tea sets, and hollowware
- Watches with a gold or silver case or band, evaluated primarily for metal content
- Broken or single pieces, which are still valued for their metal even if unwearable
For most jewelry, we evaluate based on metal weight and purity rather than the setting, style, or brand, unless a piece has clear collectible or designer significance.
What we're careful about
Categories that need a closer look
Some items require expertise beyond metal content, and it's worth being upfront about that rather than guessing at value on the spot.
- Diamonds and other gemstones — stone value is a separate specialty from metal content
- Luxury and mechanical watches — brand, movement, and working condition matter beyond the case metal
- Designer or branded jewelry, where maker and provenance can add value beyond the metal
- Costume or plated jewelry with no precious metal content
VerifyConfirm which of these categories (diamonds, luxury watches, designer jewelry) we actively evaluate in-house versus refer elsewhere, so this page doesn't overstate our services.
Before you come in
What to bring
- Items as-is — no need to clean or polish
- Any original boxes, papers, or appraisals, especially for watches
- A valid photo ID
