Gold Bullion

Gold is the most widely held and easily resold bullion metal, which is why it's usually the first place people start when adding physical precious metals. We keep a rotating selection of gold coins and bars, and can source specific pieces on request.

What we typically stock

Common gold coins and bars

Availability shifts with the market, so what's in the case changes — but these are the pieces we handle most often.

American Gold Eagle

The most recognized U.S. gold bullion coin, backed by the U.S. Mint, available in fractional and one-ounce sizes.

American Gold Buffalo

A 24-karat one-ounce coin with a design drawn from the classic Buffalo nickel.

Canadian Gold Maple Leaf

One of the purest gold coins minted, widely traded and well recognized outside the U.S. as well.

Krugerrand

South Africa's long-running gold bullion coin, one of the original modern investment coins and still heavily traded.

Gold bars

From gram-sized bars up to one ounce and beyond, typically from recognized refiners, at a lower premium than coins.

Fractional gold

Tenth-ounce and quarter-ounce coins for smaller budgets or gifting, at a higher per-ounce premium than full-ounce pieces.

Sizing it right

Fractional vs. one-ounce gold

Neither is 'better' — it depends on your budget and plans.

  • One-ounce coins and bars carry the lowest premium per ounce, making them the most cost-efficient way to hold a larger gold position.
  • Fractional coins (1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz) cost more per ounce of gold but let you buy in smaller increments and give more flexibility if you ever sell only part of a position.
  • If you're buying gold for the first time, a single one-ounce coin from a widely recognized mint is usually the simplest, most liquid starting point.

Pricing

How gold is priced here

Every gold coin or bar is priced off the live spot price of gold, plus a premium that reflects the piece's form, mint, and size, as described on our precious metals overview.
