World Coins

Coinage from beyond U.S. borders

A lot of American collectors eventually branch out — world coins offer centuries more history, different design traditions, and often surprising affordability.

What We Carry

Regions and eras we cover

British Coinage

Sovereigns, crowns, and pre-decimal coinage spanning centuries of British monarchs.

Canadian Coinage

Silver dollars, large cents, and modern issues, a natural companion to a U.S. collection.

Mexican Coinage

Pesos and gold coinage with strong regional demand, including popular silver "Libertad" and older cap-and-rays designs.

European Coinage

Coins from France, Germany, Italy, and beyond, from medieval issues through the 20th century.

Ancient Coinage

Greek and Roman coins for collectors drawn to the oldest form of currency still traded today.

Getting Started

A few notes on collecting world and ancient coins

  • Authentication matters even more with ancients and less common world issues — buy from a source you trust and ask questions.
  • Grading standards and terminology can differ by country and era; we're glad to explain what we're seeing on a specific coin.
  • World gold and silver coins often carry a bullion floor in addition to numismatic value, similar to U.S. gold and silver.
  • Certification from NGC or PCGS exists for many world and ancient coins and can add confidence for higher-value pieces.

See our certified coins page for more on how that process works, or our coin grading guide for the basics that carry over from U.S. coins.
