Do I need to know anything about coins to buy from you?

No. Most first-time buyers don't. Tell us what you're trying to accomplish — a gift, a long-term hold, starting a collection, or hedging with physical metal — and we'll show you options that fit and explain the trade-offs of each.

How is the price of gold and silver bullion determined?

Accepted Answer

Bullion pricing starts from the live spot price of the metal, plus a premium that covers minting, distribution, and the dealer's margin. Premiums vary by product: a one-ounce bar usually carries a lower premium than a fractional coin, and government-minted coins carry more than generic rounds. We'll tell you the premium on anything you're considering.

Can I see your inventory online?

Our purchasable listings live on our online marketplace storefront, and the full selection is in the case at the shop. We deliberately don't publish a live inventory list here, because it would be out of date within a day. Call for anything specific — a good deal of what we hold never gets listed.

Can you find a specific coin for me?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Tell us the date, mint mark, grade range, and budget you have in mind and we'll watch for it through our dealer network and auction contacts. There's no obligation if what turns up isn't right.

Should I buy certified or raw coins?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the coin. For key dates, high-grade material, and anything where a single grade point moves the price significantly, certification by PCGS, NGC, or PMG protects you. For common-date circulated coins, a raw coin at a fair price is often the better value.

How do I know I'm getting a fair offer?

We explain how we arrived at the number — melt value versus numismatic value, grade, market demand, and what comparable pieces have recently traded for. You're welcome to take that information home, get other opinions, and come back. Nothing about our process depends on you deciding on the spot.

Do I need an appointment to sell?

Walk-ins are welcome for most visits. For a large collection or an estate, call ahead so we can set aside the time to go through it properly rather than rushing.

What should I bring with me?

The items themselves, plus any paperwork you have — old invoices, appraisal documents, certificates, or inventory lists. Photo ID may be required for certain transactions.

Should I clean my coins before bringing them in?

Accepted Answer

Please don't. Cleaning is the single most common way value is destroyed. Even a gentle polish leaves hairlines that graders detect immediately and can reduce a coin's value substantially. Bring it exactly as it is.

Do you buy jewelry and sterling silver?

We buy gold and silver jewelry and sterling flatware for their precious metal content, and we look at pieces where the design or maker may carry additional value.

Do I have to sell everything at once?

No. Many people sell a portion and keep the pieces that mean something to them, or that they want to pass on. We'll help you separate the two.

Right here — this is the most common call we get. You do not need to identify anything first. Bring the collection exactly as you found it and we'll sort and identify it with you, explain what drives the value, and lay out your options.

What kinds of things can you help identify?

U.S. and world coins, paper currency, gold and silver bullion, certified slabs, albums and folders, mint and proof sets, sterling silver, and jewelry with precious metal content. We'll also tell you plainly when something has little value.

Am I obligated to sell after an evaluation?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. Plenty of people come in, learn what they have, and take everything home. That's a perfectly good outcome and we treat it that way.

Can you help with an estate that's being divided among family?

Yes. We regularly work with executors, attorneys, and families who need a clear picture of value before dividing things up. See our estate collections page for how that process usually goes.

Is an evaluation the same as a written appraisal?

Accepted Answer

No. A verbal evaluation tells you what a collection is worth in today's market and what we'd pay. A formal written appraisal is a document for insurance, probate, or estate purposes.
