Our story

A Lowcountry coin shop built one counter conversation at a time.

Mount Pleasant Coin has operated out of its storefront at 1113 Market Center Blvd Unit D, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 since 2013, serving collectors, families, and first-time sellers across Mount Pleasant, Charleston, and the surrounding Lowcountry.

Behind the counter is Byron L., who has spent more than 20 years working directly with coins, currency, and precious metals — helping people understand old family collections, evaluate inherited coin jars and safes, and buy or sell bullion with confidence.

VerifyThe "established 2013" date and "20+ years of experience" are provisional messaging points supplied for this build. Please confirm the exact founding date, business history, and Byron's precise years of experience and preferred public bio before this page goes live.

The shop's approach has stayed simple over the years: look at what someone brings in, explain honestly what it is and what it's worth, and let them make their own decision without pressure. That applies whether it's a single inherited coin in an envelope or a full estate collection that needs to be sorted box by box.

Mount Pleasant and the greater Charleston area have a long tradition of collectors — Civil War-era coinage, colonial and territorial pieces, and generations of family collections that have passed hand to hand along the Lowcountry coast. Being part of that community, in a real storefront people can walk into, has always been the point.

Today, the shop continues to serve the same neighbors, along with newer residents of Mount Pleasant, Daniel Island, Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island, and beyond, who are looking for a local place to buy, sell, or simply ask questions about what they own.
